Introduction

What do we study

As a Sound Engineering student you’ll cover many aspects of the recording and sound industry, learning classic and modern sound recording techniques, recording your own songs and sounds, and improving your listening skills. You’ll record musicians, bands and soloists, and develop your own skills as an engineer.

How will I learn

Over the duration of two years you will be introduced to the exciting world of audio engineering and production, developing the necessary skills to be able to operate our state-of-the-art recording studio.

What's next

Students studying Sound Engineering have progressed onto University study at institutions around the country, including the prestigious SAE in London, Liverpool and Glasgow. Our Music Technologists have gone on to work in prestigious companies such as EA Games, Rough Trade, and Beggar's Banquet Records. Former students have also found success in bands and as solo artists.

What else do I need to know

Depending on your previous grades you may need to study English and maths alongside your other courses. These are essential skills that all employers value.

Sound Engineering has been rated as ‘Outstanding’ within the college for a decade due to continual high grades, high success rates and the 100% pass rate.
Our former students have had the opportunity to work with signed bands on projects including music videos and album releases as well as TV and film soundtracks for major companies, such as the BBC, ITV and Sky.
