The single A Level equivalent course is ideal for those that have enjoyed the theoretical aspects of GCSE PE and are keen to advance their knowledge by studying sport and exercise science. There is a mixture of theory and practical in this academically challenging subject that works well when chosen with Biology, Health and Social Care, Business and amongst many others.

What do we study

Covering a mixture of theory and practical, in year one of the course you will study subjects such as Functional Anatomy, Applied Sport and Exercise Psychology, Applied Research Methods in Sport and Exercise Science, Coaching for Performance and Fitness, Specialised Fitness Training and Sociocultural Issues in Sport and Exercise. In year 2 you will study Sport and Exercise Physiology, Field and Lab-based Fitness Testing, Nutrition for Sport Performance, Biomechanics in Sport and Exercise Science, Sports Injury and Assessment, Sports Massage and Technology in Sport and Exercise Science.

How will I learn

All of our classes are a mixture of theory and practical. Wherever possible underpinning theory will be demonstrated in a practical context using our excellent facilities. We will do a mixture of group work, individual work, research, and presentations.
