Introduction

This course is the perfect introduction to the performing arts suitable for those with lots or little experience of acting on the live stage. This course will enable you to develop performance skills and techniques for live shows as well as critically and practically analyse the work of performing arts practitioners. As well as strengthening your understanding of the performing arts this course will also help to equip you with many other valuable transferable skills such as confidence, resilience and team work. You will have many performance opportunities across the course some of which will be over at the Teesdale site alongside the musical theatre and acting learners.

What do we study

You will learn through a combination of practical hands on experience creating performance material for a range of audiences as well as learning skills to develop your understanding of performance as a craft. You will learn about different performing arts practitioners and their styles and will be given ample opportunities to practically explore these. There will also be opportunities to deepen and strengthen your understanding of performance by performing alongside the Teesdale campus students throughout the year.

How will I learn

You will learn through a combination of practical workshops, seminars, research activities, group work and individual preparation. You will also have one on one support throughout the year to support you to truly get the best from your studies.

What's next

Students studying performing arts have gone on to study acting, drama and performing arts at university as well as conservatoires across the country to continue their training in the industry.

What current students say
