Now the 18-year-old from Wynyard is off to study professional policing at Teesside University.

The Bede Sixth Form student said: “This is something I have wanted to do since secondary school.

“Waiting for results was nerve wracking and I didn’t feel the relief until my university place was confirmed.”

Among those to have to complete his college course in lockdown, he said: “I was a bit nervous about what would happen, but we had to work from home and I was given loads of support.

“It isn’t the same working from home but the college did a very good job.”

Now looking forward to university in September he said: “I can’t wait to get started.”
