Bede Sixth Form College endeavours to ensure that all students are aware of all routes to higher skills and employment options – including apprenticeships and technical options, aligned with The Department of Education, July 2021: “Baker Clause”: supporting students to understand the full range of education and training options, Gatsby Benchmarks and the Provider Access Legislation, January 2023). As part of the new Provider Access Legislation, all further education colleges must provide at least two encounters for pupils during the ‘third key phase’ (year 12 or 13) which are made available to learners but are optional to attend, to take place any time during year 12 or between 1 September and 28 February during year 13 – through a comprehensive progression and careers programme, we provide a full calendar of encounters with a minimum of 12 encounters across our college group, and many more which are organised in line with course objectives. These opportunities are also extended to adult learners.

Our Careers Programme, led by local Careers Officers, includes impartial information, advice and guidance on the following:

  • Education
  • Training
  • Careers
  • Job search, interview skills and employability support
  • Universities
  • Apprenticeships
  • Current labour market

We offer one to one appointments and we deliver informative sessions in classes. We work closely with tutors to arrange visits to local and national universities and career events, talks with employers and Student Finance England. All of which will help you plan your career pathway.

As part of our careers programme we work with, and welcome engagement, with partner organisations, including Training Providers, Local Authorities, other colleges of Further Education, Universities, and Employers. These all contribute to giving our students the best possible impartial advice and guidance on their options.

You can view our Provider Access Statement here.

Quality in Careers Standard:

Our Careers team is currently working with Educational Development Trust (EDT) on content and submission required for the Quality in Careers Standard, with high hopes of achieving the accreditation.
