A string of A grades has got to be a welcome sight when it comes to results day.

Ben achieved just that, with A* grades in maths and business and an A in economics from Bede Sixth Form College today.

Now off to study accounting and finance as part of the Flying Start degree programme at Newcastle University, he will get to work with Price Waterhouse Cooper while he studies, with the chance to gain valuable experience and put classroom theory into commercial practice.

Going through a robust recruitment process, Ben said: “I was very happy to get a place as that has been what I really wanted for the last year or so.”

But being more than willing to put in the groundwork and confident in his ability to do well, has been an effective formula for Ben.

While he remained calm in the run up to results day, he conceded that it is still a great feeling to open the envelope and see the grades in front of him.
