We offer a wide range of enrichment and extra curricular activities, and we are happy to discuss any ideas you may have for new ones!
Recently we've had Aspiring Engineers, Charity Club, Chemists in Industry, Debating Club, Rock Climbing, Running Club, just to name a few.
You could also join our Student Association, be a Student Ambassador, and complete the Duke of Edinburgh's Award or EPQ while you're here with us.
Get involved in our ISE
It is widely recognised that sport and activity offer an array of wide-reaching benefits for students, from boosting concentration to stress relief. Our new Institute of Sport and Education has something to offer for every student, whether you are a beginner, looking for some fun activities to join, or have a particular sporting talent.
We also have fantastic opportunities for students aged 16 to 19 in our sports academies. There’s a whole host of sporting activities on offer, whether you are a beginner or have a particular sporting talent. Learners can be a part of academy programmes whilst studying any combination of our courses, and can compete in high-level leagues and cup competitions at both local and national levels.
Our sports academies:
- Womens’ football (in partnership with Durham Women FC)
- Mens’ football
- Netball

Take a trip somewhere new
You will get the chance to take part in lots of visits and trips. Recent trips have included visits to Manchester, London and Barcelona. Students have also tested their outdoor skills with expeditions to Keswick and the North Yorkshire Moors.
Prep for your future at Progression Day
We want to help you make the right choices for you. Our annual Progression Day offers the chance to explore a selection of the amazing opportunities ahead of you.
With speakers from a selection of universities and employers, including the armed forces and police, this is a day to both inform and inspire.
Have your say in the Student Association
Your Student Association represents you and can help you through college life.
Each year, two presidents are elected, one from each year group. The rest of the Association is made up from tutor representatives, one from each tutor group.
The Student Association's aim is to make an impact for future students, and create a community where they can affect change. The Association listens to students’ opinions and has meetings with the director to ensure that you have the best college experience.
Previous activities have included collecting food donations for local food banks, raising money for charity, holding a mock election, and organising end of year celebrations and Leavers' Awards.
