Introduction

Choosing to study Esports is an excellent way to open up a wide-range of future career options. Esports is the 2nd fastest growing entertainment and media sector in the UK. Esports builds transferable skills such as teamwork, leadership, strategic thinking, problem solving, decision making, digital literacy, dexterity and improved processing and reaction times.

What do we study

You will cover four units over two years including: • Introduction to Esports • Esports Skills, Strategies and Analysis • Enterprise and Entrepreneurship in the Esports Industry • Health, Wellbeing and Fitness for Esports Players

How will I learn

The course is assessed internally with no externally assessed units. Learners will complete assignments designed to meet each of the assessment criteria – these will be spread out over the duration of the course. All lessons will be delivered in a purpose-built Esports classroom with fully equipped gaming systems. Learners will need to ensure that they are available on Wednesday afternoons to take part in national tournament competitions.

What's next

The qualification is endorsed by The British Esports Association, it recognised by employers and will support entry into the industry across a range of roles: Esports player, Events Organiser, Social photographer, team coach, shoutcaster and presenter, video production editor, data analyst and social influencer. The qualification has UCAS points associated with it and learners can progress to university – progression to US universities is also possible via scholarship (over 200 US colleges are offering scholarships in esports in exactly the same was as they do for traditional sports).

What else do I need to know

Depending on your previous grades you may need to study English and maths alongside your other courses. These are essential skills that all employers value.
