Course overview
History is more than learning about historical events; we challenge interpretations so that we can understand how events of the past shaped our lives today. You will learn to form and support your own opinion on a range of historical issues. This is an exciting, varied and challenging course which will help you to gain an understanding of the world we live in, learning about everything from the economy, to religion, to politics.
You’ll cover four main topics, including the transformation of Britain from 1918-1997, the boom, bust and recovery of the USA, the witch craze in Britain, Europe and North America, and Nazi Germany.
Course information
This course is assessed by a combination of coursework and examination. You will complete one piece of coursework and three exams at the end of Year 2.
History students have gone on to study history or related courses at prestigious universities including Russell Group, and work in related industries such as politics, teaching and journalism.
Grades 9-4 in seven GCSEs (AGCSE 5.00 – 5.50) plus Grade 4 in GCSe History and Grade 5 in GCSE English
Depending on your previous grades you may need to study English and maths alongside your other courses. These are essential skills that all employers value.

History students learn in a variety of ways including group work, interactive tasks, individual research, presentations, debates and comprehension activities.
