I am delighted that you are considering Bede Sixth Form College. As part of the Education Training Collective, one of the top-performing college groups in the country, we are proud of our achievements. In 2024/25, Bede saw its strongest performance in many years and we had some of the highest achievement rates in the North East; and following our Ofsted inspection in March 2025, we were awarded ‘Outstanding’, with particular recognition for our ‘Strong’ contribution to meeting skills needs.

We continuously invest in our estate to offer the best possible learning environment. In the last three years we have opened a £2.4m annexe with additional classroom and student spaces; created a new science laboratory in collaboration with FUJIFILM Biotechnologies reflecting the same high-quality standards used in industry; we have upgraded our sports hall floor and laid a brand new all-weather pitch; we have created a bespoke sensory regulation space for learners who might require this additional support and we have invested in VR technologies to support development of student personal development.

Our strong partnerships with employers mean students gain hands-on experience in real-world environments. Learners benefit immensely from facilities such as a media suite with industry-standard cameras and editing equipment, including a state-of-the-art infinity cove studio, and specialised training spaces for sports and sciences, aligned with workplace expectations. These experiences prepare students exceptionally well for employment. At Bede, we pride ourselves on ensuring students leave us fully prepared for their next steps. With a consistent trend of 98% positive destinations, our students progress to higher education, employment, and higher apprenticeships, significantly exceeding national benchmarks.

We continue to strengthen our Institute of Sport and Education (ISE) academies, providing exceptional support for talented athletes, helping them excel both academically and in competition. As a Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS) Accredited College, we have seen incredible student success, with graduates securing professional contracts in football and rugby, as well as gaining scholarships in the USA. Our commitment to student wellbeing is unwavering. Our 10am start time continues to have a positive impact on student wellbeing and achievement, while our wrap-around pastoral support—through our Personal Progression Coordinators and careers professionals—ensures every student is guided towards success.
