Introduction

Consider how much time you spend consuming media on a daily basis. Now consider why you spend so much time consuming it. What is it that the media does to keep you glued to your tablet, phone and TV screens, and how are the producers of these media products shaping your beliefs on everything from race and gender to right and wrong? The media is a dynamic, vibrant and essential industry that offers a whole range of exciting career opportunities to those who study it.

What do we study

Whilst studying this course you will examine the power of the media, its regulation, genres, and audience, while also developing practical skills through the creation of your own media products for television, magazine and other journalistic industries. You will gain hands-on experience using industry standard camera and editing equipment, and you will be encouraged to make as much use of our state-of-the-art green screen television studio as possible!

How will I learn

You will learn how to produce industry standard media products through practical hands on experience with specialist media equipment. You will also learn a range of analytical skills and apply them to real world case studies from our media.
