Introduction

The CPQ Professional Stage is the third and final stage of the CILEX Professional Qualification. It is open to CILEX Advanced Paralegals or those with an LPC or BPC. You will enter the CPQ Framework as a trainee CILEX lawyer and will study the Professional Stage to become a CILEX Lawyer. This programme takes your legal education to the highest level, building on your previous study and enabling you to complete your specialist training to achieve practice rights in your chosen specialism.

What do we study

Trainees will complete a mandatory module entitled Professional Skills. This module will require you to complete legal research on a given case study. You will then select your chosen specialist pathway module. Examples of pathways include, but not limited to, residential conveyancing, commercial conveyancing, probate practice and family practice. The modules of criminal litigation, family practice and civil litigation also have an advocacy requirement attached to them which will need to be completed.

How will I learn

We deliver the programme using a blended learning model to allow flexibility within your learning journey. You will learn through a variety of methods such as video lectures, in-person seminars, interactive workshops and skills-based tutorials. You will also receive a resources pack and extra support in the run up to assessments. You will be allocated a dedicated professional mentor who will support you through your study programme and provide guidance on developing your employability profile.

What's next

Graduates will be qualified CILEX Specialist Lawyers in their chosen legal area and receive all relevant practice rights. Graduates can choose to specialise in additional areas by completing additional modules.

What else do I need to know

Each learner will be assigned a personal tutor who will guide them through their study and will meet regularly to discuss progress and individual learner needs. We also have a careers adviser who can help with CV’s, job searches and interview techniques when it comes to applying for jobs in the legal sector. Trips to the law courts are also included for those who wish to see the law in action. Networking events are also arranged to help learners build links with people working in the profession.  Professional Stage: £2,950
